Get your hands a little dirty and help create a haven for one of nature's most important nighttime pollinators! Join the Egyptian Chapter PR Committee for a fun and rewarding habitat stewardship day at Rend Lake on October 28 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

This is your chance to connect with nature, learn about bats, and help create a landscape that supports local wildlife. We'll kick things off with a 30-minute interactive educational session on gardening for bats, where you'll discover how native plants, night-blooming flowers, and healthy habitats support these beneficial creatures. Then we'll roll up our sleeves for two hours of hands-on gardening, planting and tending a bat-friendly landscape.

Whether you're a seasoned gardener, a wildlife enthusiast, or simply curious about conservation, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Come dressed in your Egyptian Chapter attire—and don't worry if you don't have any! Event shirts will be provided upon arrival.

Please bring:

  • Water
  • Knee pads or gardening pads

Recommended items:

  • Wide-brimmed hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Gardening gloves
  • Sturdy walking shoes

Volunteers will be asked to complete volunteer paperwork.

Registration is required.

Time

Meet at the Visitors Center located at 11981 Rend City Rd., Benton, IL by 8:30AM. We’ll kick things off with a 30-minute interactive gardening education session, then roll up our sleeves for two hours of hands-on planting, tending, and nurturing the landscape.
