Bloom Together: National Public Lands Day at Rend Lake

Wednesday, September 23, 2026 (8:00 AM - 11:30 AM) (CDT)

Description

Celebrate National Public Lands Day by giving back to one of our region's treasured public spaces! Join the Egyptian Chapter PR Committee for a Plant for Pollinators volunteer event at Rend Lake on September 23 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

Meet at the Rend Lake Visitors Center
11981 Rend City Rd.
Benton, IL

We'll begin with a 30-minute interactive session on the important role pollinators play in healthy ecosystems and how native plants help them thrive. Then, volunteers will spend two hours planting and tending habitat that supports pollinators and enhances our public lands for future generations.

Whether you're a seasoned gardener, a wildlife enthusiast, or simply curious about conservation, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Come dressed in your Egyptian Chapter attire—and don't worry if you don't have any! Event shirts will be provided upon arrival.

Please bring:

  • Water
  • Knee pads or gardening pads

Recommended items:

  • Wide-brimmed hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Gardening gloves
  • Sturdy walking shoes

Volunteers will be asked to complete volunteer paperwork.

Registration is required. Deadline: Sept. 18th at noon.

Together, let's celebrate National Public Lands Day by improving habitat, supporting pollinators, and helping our public lands bloom. 🌼🐝🦋
